Police Free BALTIMORE CITY Schools 2021
Police in schools have not been commonplace for as long as you may think. Throughout most of the 1990s, the use of police inside of assigned, specific schools was very limited. In fact, only one percent of schools in the United States reported stationed law enforcement officers in the 1970s.
BEE has looked at the numbers and they don’t make sense: There is no evidence to support that School Resource Officers prevent school violence – infamous national and local incidents of extreme school violence: Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Columbine, and Frederick Douglass High Schools all had school police present, and violence was not prevented.
We must stop spending so much money on a program that has not improved outcomes for our kids, has not helped us to retain teachers, and has not set our city's future up for success.
Use the form below to contact your state lawmakers and the members of the Education, Workforce, and Youth Committee of Baltimore City Council and tell them you want them to become fierce advocates for police free schools in Baltimore. #BEEpolicefree
