Creating Inclusive Schools

It all started when…

The Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners was considering a new sex-based discrimination policy in 2019. BEE worked with Councilmember Zeke Cohen, a former Baltimore City educator, to introduce and pass a resolution in city council that supported that change.

BEE then led efforts to urge Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners to adopt the JBB policy, which clearly defines gender-based harassment.

The policy puts important protections in place and define the rights of transgender and gender-nonconforming students in city schools.
